Frequently Asked Questions

Vehicle wraps can take many shapes, colors and sizes. A full wrap covers the entire surface of the car or vehicle. A partial wrap from Car Wrap City covers only a specific portion of the vehicle and uses the vehicle’s paint scheme as the backdrop for the full design. Vehicle wraps are done with vinyl materials (think of it as a large decal) that conform to the shape of your vehicle. They can be done in solid colors as “paint replacement” or can have digitally printed designs on the vinyl to really make your vehicle stand out.

Here’s a quick comparison of typical advertising mediums to see how wraps compare:

  • RADIO ATTRACTS 900,000 LISTENERS IN SIX WEEKS WITH 10 TO 12 30-SECOND SPOTS.
  • VALUE PAK MAILINGS OFFER A REACH OF 600,000 WITH 100,000 ADDRESSES PER DROP AND YOUR CLIENT IS JUST ONE OF MANY ADVERTISERS INCLUDED IN THE PACKET.
  • DIRECT MAIL REACHES 20,000 NAMES WITH ONE POSTCARD MAILER.
  • SEVEN CITY BUSES GET 600,000 IMPRESSIONS IN TWO MONTHS.
  • BILLBOARDS RECEIVE 700,000 IMPRESSIONS IN ONE MONTH.
  • AN AD IN THE YELLOW PAGES CAN COST UP TO $15,000 PER YEAR—WITH YOUR COMPETITORS LISTED RIGHT THERE NEXT TO YOUR AD.
  • THE SAME IS TRUE FOR PAY-PER-CLICK ADVERTISING—AT AN EVEN HIGHER COST PER MONTH.
  • VEHICLE WRAPS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO GARNER THOUSANDS OF IMPRESSIONS EACH DAY, THEY LAST UP 3-7 YEARS AND COST, ON AVERAGE, BETWEEN $2-4K FOR A STANDARD VEHICLE.

We wrap with Avery Dennison and 3M car wrap materials (unless otherwise requested) which are formulated with a removable adhesive that does not harm your car’s paint. In fact, the vinyl will actually protect your paint. If high-quality materials are used and the vinyl is installed correctly (without the use of adhesive promoters), your paint will look just the same as it did the day your wrap was put on. This leads to higher resale costs in the future and a longer life for your vehicle’s surface in general. Of course, you still must care for your wrap just like you would your paint.

A wrap that is well taken care of can last up to seven years. However, most people either want to change up their graphics/color or, due to lack of cleaning or care, see fading or cracking before the seventh year. In our experience, we expect a lifetime of about 5-7 years for color change films (Avery Dennison, 3M, etc) and about 5 years for digitally printed wraps.

The horizontal and vertical surfaces of a vehicle is warranted at different rates.

Printed wrap film is not translucent; you cannot see through it. Most color-change films are not translucent either.

Paint color can influence the turnaround time: black and grey vehicles generally take less time vs white, green, red, orange, and yellow.

Yes the window graphics are printed on a perforated vinyl that allows you to see through the rear and side rear windows.

No, state laws prohibit the use of wraps on driver and passenger side windows, as well as the windshield.

We can and we do wrap the roofs.
Full exterior wrap can have a roof wrap or not. Generally, roofs are not wrapped on high vehicles like vans and box trucks unless it is requested by the customer.
Please note, the horizontal surface has a shorter warranty than the vertical surface, and might need to be replaced during the life of a wrap at least once.

A painted plastic bumper can be wrapped without any problems. In the case of fiber-glass or chrome bumpers, application of vinyl on these areas are not recommended or guaranteed to adhere for the duration of the life of the wrap. Textured plastic is not wrappable.

YES, In some cases they can be wrapped, but there will be no warranty. Usually, it’s done for the car shows, not for daily drivers.

Absolutely! If it rolls or floats, we can wrap it! We also install graphics and textured vinyls on walls and windows. Visit our Showroom to see some past project examples.

Not a problem. We can print and install graphic overlays, so that information may be removed or replaced if you need to change or update your car wrap.

Yes, you can finance your wrap through most dealerships at the time of purchasing a vehicle. Car Wrap City does not offer financing in-house, but we can offer a “layaway” plan – with regular, monthly payments, we will begin the design process. Production and installation of the wrap be put into motion as soon as payment is complete. And don’t forget – commercial wraps (half and full) can qualify as a deductible advertising expense.
