What is the first thing to come to mind when you hear about Shriners? Don’t worry, it’s totally natural to immediately think of the guys who ride around in red miniature cars wearing tasseled hats! Once you’ve amused yourself with that image, what else do you think of?
The Shriners International is a fraternity that makes it their mission to bring brotherly love to this world in a variety of ways. They have almost 200 chapters and thousands of clubs around the world. One of their most recognized efforts are the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The first hospital was up and running with their first patient in 1922. The first patient to be admitted was a little girl with clubfoot. She had learned to walk on the top of her foot rather than the sole. It may not have seemed like a big deal for the average person, but for the little girl who was soon able to correct her walk? It meant the world.
The most remarkable thing about the Shriners Hospitals for Children is their commitment to providing the best care for children regardless of a family’s ability to pay. This means children from all walks of life are able to get the special care they need. The Shriners accomplish this through their remarkable foresight, commitment, and fundraising skills. Nearly one million children have been treated at one of the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children. These hospitals span the United States, in Canada and in Mexico.

Cleft Lip and Palate
Providing transportation for each child in need is another part of running these hospitals. To do this, there is a team of 36 drivers who keep many vans going 7 days a week to take children to the hospital when needed. Keeping each van looking “friendly” is important to the Shriners so they choose to wrap them. It was a no-brainer for Car Wrap City to step in and help with adding a wow factor to their rides. The vinyl wrap donated by Car Wrap City was designed with vibrant colors and a message of “Love to the rescue”.
