Operation Kindness is an organization with a huge heart that helps four-legged fur babies in need. It is the original – and largest – no-kill shelter in North Texas and can proudly say it’s helped save more than 80,000 cats and dogs over the past 40 years. Not only does Operation Kindness care for close to 300 pets on a day-to-day basis, but they also are able to help facilitate another 150 animals in foster homes. The organization provides medical care, clean shelter, nutritious food, and playtime in a natural setting for cats and dogs that are eagerly awaiting their new, forever homes. It is Operation Kindness’ vision to create a world where all cats and dogs have loving, responsible, forever homes.
Operation Kindness is a nonprofit organization and receives no government funding…which means they rely on kind donations from individuals and businesses in order to keep the doors open for homeless kitties and doggies. When the animals currently being housed in their facilities find their forever homes, more space opens up for additional fur babies to hopefully find a new family too. Another avenue for helping keep Operation Kindness’ dream alive is the fundraising events they host.
When you check out the News & Events page on their website, you’ll find all sorts of ways to get involved and help make a difference. For the month of September, they were fully focused on educating everyone about North Texas Giving Day, which fell on September 17th. Their goal was to raise $100,000, funding which is critical to their ongoing life-saving mission. They ended up surpassing that goal - $169,207 was donated through 1,922 individual gifts from supporters! Find out how to participate in future events here.
Another big event that is widely considered their most anticipated event of the year is the Canines, Cats & Cabernet. If you’ve never heard about this, please be sure to check it out! It will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at the Omni Downtown Dallas. This elegant auction gala features more than 200 spectacular live, bid board, silent and online auctions as well as a delicious dinner, grand raffle, and more. Last – but most certainly not least – there will also be an adoption lounge featuring cats and dogs who are longing for their forever homes!
These two events are just a small portion of the big plans Operation Kindness has for ensuring their doors remain open for the homeless cats and dogs they help. Be sure to check out their full event schedule to find other ways to help.
